Canberra's water supply comes primarily from the Googong Reservoir, which provides around 80% of the ACT's needs, supplemented by the Corin and Bendora dams in Namadgi National Park. The raw water is naturally soft and relatively pure from its alpine origins.
Like Sydney and Melbourne, ActewAGL Water uses chloramination to disinfect Canberra's distribution network.
